Libby R. Leinweber, LCSW, BCD
Board Certified Diplomate, Owner

Libby Leinweber is the Owner and Clinical Director of Arizona Family Therapy. Her areas of expertise include: crisis intervention and mediation; cognitive, behavioral, and grief therapies; and trauma and abuse. She has worked with a variety of populations including the chronically mentally ill; those suffering from emotional, physical or sexual abuse; individuals struggling with mood, anxiety or post traumatic stress disorders; family of origin and inner child work; addictions; and she is a trained experiential and group therapist. A sought-after speaker and lecturer, Ms. Leinweber was named an Outstanding Young Woman of America. She was named Social Worker of the Year by the Louisiana Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. She has been a national speaker on the topic of trauma and abuse.

Previous community and volunteer affiliations include: Committee of Friends, an AIDS non-profit fund raising organization, as board of directors member and past president; and American Cancer Society and Battered Women’s Shelter volunteer. She previously served in the United States Peace Corps as a medical social worker. She currently is an ongoing volunteer with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, and a Disaster Mental health Volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Jody Cummins, LCSW, CTP, EMDR

Jody Cummins is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She received her master’s degree at Arizona State University. Her areas of expertise include Cognitive, Narrative, Solution-Focused, Strengths-Based, and Trauma Therapies. She has worked with those experiencing mental illness, those suffering from abuse, those experiencing trauma and grief, those experiencing addiction, and those doing family of origin and inner-child work. Jody worked for 20 years in a professional, corporate environment and is familiar with both the stress and triumph available to people in the modern workplace.

Jody is a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) as well as a trained practitioner of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (or EMDR.) EMDR has been shown to reduce the impact of trauma on daily activities. She believes that “in developing a better understanding of ourselves and our family system we can come to influence changes in ourselves, understand our strengths, and move forward in a way that empowers us with the skills to live better lives.”

In her spare time, Jody is an artist and photographer. She is also attempting to learn the ukulele. She believes that art and joy are intrinsically linked to successful recovery.

Steve Sommers, LMFT, LMT

Steve Sommers has been a healing arts professional for 32 years.

Currently he has a private practice in Nashville, TN specializing in Somatic and Experiential Therapies. Additionally, Steve teaches several classes to other healing arts professionals and leads experiential therapy group intensives.

As a foundation for his work as a somatic and experiential psychotherapist, Steve completed his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2006 and is a Certified Practitioner and Authorized Supervisor of SomEx (Somatic and Experiential Therapy for Trauma and Addiction.) Steve had the opportunity to intern with many Experiential and Psychodrama Group Intensive Leaders and has been an intensive therapy group leader since 2012. As a Bodywork Professional, Steve has been a Registered Practitioner of Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure® since 1994 and also holds the designation Senior Authorized Instructor of Jin Shin Do and has been teaching for more than 20 years. He loves to help individuals reclaim their embodied self lost through trauma or addiction or dysfunctional family patterns.

Sir Charles Tamu Amani

Sir Charles Tamu Amani (Aka Charley), joined the Arizona Family Therapy group in 2015. Charley is a Certified Therapy Dog, with his training and certification through the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. A rescue dog himself, Charley has great compassion for others. We are grateful to have him on the team!
